Pamela Dosenberry

     Pamela R. Dosenberry, age 61, of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 at Woodland Hospice with her family by her side.  Pam was born on February 13, 1954 in Hastings, Michigan, the daughter of Franklin D. and Edwina J. (Hostetler) Burgess.  On June 30, 1979 in Grand Ledge, Michigan, she married Clyde Dosenberry.  Pam was a resident of the area since 1969.

 

     Pam was employed as a Special Education teacher for twenty one years for the Mt. Pleasant Public Schools.  She also taught at several other school districts in Michigan.  Pam and Clyde loved to travel and went several times to Africa and Europe.  Pam loved to go on road trips.  She and Clyde traveled the entire length of Route 66, along with several other long distance routes.  She loved taking care of her dog Eddie.  She was very involved with her church, serving as secretary and Sunday School Teacher.  Pam used to bring some of her special education students home for a sleep over, and Clyde would fix them breakfast the next morning.  Pam served on the Mt. Pleasant Public Schools Board of Education for nine years.

 

     Survivors include her husband Clyde; a daughter, Sara Dosenberry of Mt. Pleasant; sons Blaine Dosenberry of Virginia and James Dosenberry of Remus, MI; her parents, Francis and Edwina Burgess of Jackson, MI; a brother, Samuel and Yao Chin Burgess of Birmingham, MI and their son Sammy, many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Also surviving are two brother-in-laws, Paul Dosenberry and Keith Dosenberry, both of Lake, MI and a sister-in-law, Carol Dosenberry of Williamston.

 

     A service of celebration for Pam will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant High School Auditorium with Pastor Gene Haymaker of the Maranatha Baptist church officiating.  Visitation for Pam will be held on Wednesday, August 19 at the Rowley Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Thursday at the High School Auditorium from 10 a.m. to the time of the service.  Contributions in Pam’s memory may be made to Woodland Hospice, Community Cancer Services or The Mt. Pleasant Community Foundation-Mt. Pleasant Public Schools Education Foundation Fund, which Pam started.  Envelopes are available at the funeral home and at the auditorium on Thursday.
